Anna Maria Island: A traditional Floridian escape
Runaway Bay is situated in Bradenton Beach on Anna Maria Island, approximately two hours drive south of Orlando, one hour from Tampa and 25 minutes from Sarasota. Most major UK airports have flights into one of these hubs.
Anna Maria’s world class beaches and “Old Florida” charm are what makes this island so special, but it also offers fantastic boutique shopping, art galleries and a huge array of restaurants and bars, many within walking distance of the apartment.
From ‘toes in the sand’ Tiki bars and casual seafood and burger joints, right through to upscale cocktail bars and fine dining establishments, Anna Maria Island offers something for all ages and tastes.
Besides our own Fishing Pier, the beach offers exciting “cast” fishing as well as wonderful, relaxing, sunbathing and swimming. Use our chairs, umbrella etc as it’s only steps away with private access.
Just a few minutes walk down the road is historic Bridge St. with shops, restaurants, crazy golf for the kids and the famous Bridge St pier.
Immediately outside the entrance to Runaway Bay are the North and South stops for the FREE trolley Bus service which runs the entire length of the island every 20 minutes. It will take you to all the shops, Bars, Restaurants and Beaches you could wish for.
There are several Bars and Restaurants in easy walking distance of our condo and we particularly love strolling down the beach to the Tiki Hut, Bar and Restaurant.
